Indirect Water Heaters
Greater Boston Indirect Water Heater Installation Service
Indirect hot water tank heaters are a great option for homes with an existing forced hot water or steam heating system. Indirect heaters work well with oil, natural gas, and solar energy fuel sources. Some indirect tanks offer the option of using multiple heating sources or may offer a backup heating source usually powered by electricity. Most indirect tank models come with a lifetime warranty and have high efficiency ratings that qualify for most water heating rebates and credits and they come in a variety of sizes and designs, making indirect water heaters a great high efficiency option for most homes.
How do they work?

Indirect water heaters are usually installed on forced hot water boiler systems by creating a separate primary heating zone with a pump specifically for the heater. The indirect hot water tank is piped to the supply and return sides of the boiler, and a built in aqua stat tells the boiler and pump when to turn on. Hot boiler water passing through a heat coil transfers heat to the domestic water side for use in showers, sinks and other plumbing fixtures requiring hot water.
Mr. Pipes Plumbing and Heating installs indirect water heaters of all makes and models for many different applications. Call 617-459-1771 and make an appointment for an evaluation.
